Planning, planing and plannig. The more you know the road ahead, the faster you will get to your destination. Before even touching the computer, know what is your message to end users and what you want to design. At this point paper and pencil are the most important tools.
 

Web Design

I define Web Design as the process of combining content, graphic elements (line, color, form, typography, images) and media (animation and sound) to create an electronic document or web page. The collection of related web pages is know as a website, which lives in a computer or web server.

As any other form of communication, the main purpose of creating a website is to deliver a message, in this case the medium is the World Wide Web. In order to access a website, the end–user will need a web browser such as Internet Explorer or other web–enabled software.

Web pages fall into two different categories:

  • Static. It means that content and layout of these pages will stay the same unless they are manually rearranged, and the whole project is re–uploaded to the server. These websites are more informative and just want a reaction from the user.
  • Dynamic. This refers to those websites that change depending on the input they get from the end user, generating content on the fly. Dynamic websites use different scripting languages such as JavaScript or ActionScript to achieve that task, making them interactive.
